FOR QUICK RESPONSE

DAGUPENOS can reasonably expect higher police visibility and quicker emergency response time now that the city’s police station and the disaster risk reduction and management office has acquired two new patrol vans and ambulance respectively.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez recently turned over the keys to P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of police, during a brief ceremony at the PNP compound.

The police station received four new motorcycles from the city government last month.

“These mobile patrol units will improve the capabilities of the police to maintain peace and order in the city and to respond to emergencies in the city, particularly during calamities” said Abrahano.

The government and the police have launched the Basic Emergency and Life Extending Network or B.E.L.E.N. 16911, an integrated 24/7-response system that the public can contact in cases of emergencies.

Fernandez said it has become imperative to improve the police’s mobility to effectively counteract criminal activities in the city. The DCPS now has seven new mobile units.

She added that a new fire truck will soon be turned over to the Bureau of Fire Protection next month, and high speed motorboats to patrol the island barangays. (Hilda M. Austria/ CIO-Patrick Cendreda)
