LINGAYEN—Soon, all adult entertainment establishments within the two-hundred-meter radius of the Pangasinan Provincial Capitol and the entire stretch of Daniel Maramba Boulevard in the capital town of Lingayen will be ordered to relocate.

Proposed provincial ordinance 12-2014 authored by Second District Board Member Nestor Reyes said that since the Provincial Capitol is the seat of the judicial, executive, and legislative government of the province, it deserves utmost respect from every citizen, the residents, and those governed.

“The operation of adult entertainment sites or establishments that cater to sensual or sexual gratification is a gross disrespect to the status and symbolism of the Provincial Capitol and downgrades the vicinity to a red light district,” it said.

The ordinance defined the adult entertainment site as a regular business establishment, whether a nightclub, disco, restobar, videoke, Internet or canteen, that offers adult entertainment services.

Last September 8 during the regular board session, the provincial ordinance has been referred to the committee level for its hearing.

The ordinance carries penalties for violations. A violation by any person, or business establishment shall be fined P50,000-P200,000 and the permanent revocation of business permit.- (Johanne R. Macob/PNA)
