MALASIQUI—Some 768 indigent senior citizens here recently received P3, 000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the social pension program (SPP)

Dr. Sofronio Domantay, president of the Municipal Federation of Senior Citizens (MFSC) Malasiqui chapter, said the indigent senior citizens are those that have no permanent sources of income and are not supported by their family members or relatives.

The DSWD’s SPP allocates a sum of P500 monthly to support them.

The beneficiaries were chosen based from the National Household Targeting System (NHTS) which is the same system used in determining the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino progam.

Mayor Armando Domantay Sr. thanked the national government for providing support to the town’s elderlies and said the municipal government will also allocate funds to support the other senior citizens that were included in the SPP.
