Wanted: More Lifelines

By July 28, 2014News, News Briefs

THE caravan ‘Lifeline Caravan” seeking to create higher awareness for organ donation took off from Dagupan City last week.

The caravan, organized by the Philippine Organ Donation and Transplantation Program (PODTP) and the Philippine Network for Organ Sharing  (PhilNOS) under the Department of Health (DOH,) started with a training -workshop for Transplant Coordinators from nine hospitals in Region I and the Cordillera.

Dr. Antonio Paraiso, program manager, said the caravan aims to encourage Filipinos to be ‘Lifelines’ or organ donors and live on through others.

“PhilNOS is promoting the ‘deceased donor’ program  to make people aware that they can arrange for the donation of their organs while they are still alive.” Paraiso said. (PIA/VHS)
