SP honors San Fabian’s Brylle Vinluan

LINGAYEN—The Sangguniang Panlalawigan commended the brilliance of a young Pangasinense who emerged as top winner, earning three gold medals in the 2014 ASEAN Age Group Chess championship in Macau, China last June 3 to 12.

In a resolution approved during the regular session on July 8, the SP commended Brylle Gever E. Vinluan, a 14-year old chess prodigy from San Fabian town who represented the country in the international chess competition.

In winning the chess championship in China, Vinluan has brought national and international honor for Pangasinan and the country.

Board Members Liberato Villegas and Mojamito Libunao, authors of the resolution, said Vinluan has amply demonstrated his mettle in the age group competition by bagging the gold medals in all the three categories – rapid individual, rapid team and blitz team.

Prior to his stint in Macau, the Vinluan earned the right to represent the country at the Asian Youth Championship in New Delhi in India earlier this year.

Provincial Resolution No. 661-2014 recognized that to be a champion in a world class competition entails a lot of sacrifice, determination, preparation and hard work, the qualities that Vinluan that imbibes that should encourage others achieve in their chosen activities.

The board acknowledged that the award winning performance of Vinluan at an early age serves as an inspiration and a model for the youth of the province to emulate.

The young champion is a regular participant in the chess clinics being conducted by the provincial government since 2010, Provincial Sports Director Modesto Operania said.

Earlier, Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. was been hailed by Grandmaster Jason Gonzales, executive director of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, for organizing a chess program in Pangasinan with regular chess clinics and tournaments. (PIO)
