Nat’l Disaster Consciousness Month Kicks Off

CAPITOL NEWS

OFFICE of Civil Defense Regional Council Director Melchito Castro lauded anew the present leadership for having maintained a pro-active disaster and risk reduction program in Pangasinan.

At the formal opening of the National Disaster Consciousness Month celebration on July 14 at the Capitol Plaza, Castro hailed the province for establishing its capability and readiness in ensuring the safety of the people in times of disasters.

Considering that Pangasinan has been among the provinces most visited by calamities like heavy typhoons leading to floods and other eventualities, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has continually build its competence in the preparation for the emergence of catastrophes, Castro said.

Meanwhile, Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., in recent interviews, has assured the continuous enhancement of the capability of the PDRRMC with all its member agencies to ensure the safety of his constituents in the event that disaster strikes.

The kick-off ceremony was followed by a pre-coordinating conference on flood evacuation drill in Barangay Talibaew in Calasiao led by OIC Executive Officer Fernando de Guzman and Dir. Castro
