LINGAYEN—While the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) is still pondering the amendments needed to the town’s traffic ordinance, the mayor already preempted the process by issuing an executive order (EO) for the implementation of a new traffic scheme.

The EO issued by Mayor Josefina Castañeda established the route for the town’s one -way traffic scheme to help decongest the worsening gridlock in the town’s commercial area.

Under the new traffic scheme, all public utility buses (PUBs) and jeeps (PUJs), and vans-for-hire from Dagupan city will have to turn right turn to Maramba Blvd. and take either Ramos St. West or Alvear St., to Artacho St., cross Avenida St., and will have to make turn right to Casiano Jimenez St., to enter the common terminal.

From the common terminal, mini-buses bound for Camiling/Alaminos City will have to turn right to Solis St. while mini buses bound for Dagupan City will have to turn left to Solis St. and straight ahead to Avenida St.

Tricycles and privates vehicles shall take the same route along Poblacion area.
All the one-way traffic schemes shall be from 7a.m. to 7p.m.

The EO authorizes PNP-Lingayen and POSO to issue citation tickets to any motorist caught violating the aforementioned traffic scheme.

Meanwhile, SB secretary Genaro Valencerina said the public hearing on the amendment of the traffic ordinance is scheduled on August 12, 2014. (Johanne R. Macob)
