ROSALES—This town will soon be literally known for the flower blooming and flourishing everywhere  – the ‘Rosal’!

This is the objective of the sangguniang bayan (SB) when it passed an ordinance declaring “Rosal” (Gardenia jasminoides Ellis), resembling a white rose, as its official flower.

Authored by Councilor Romeo Sim, the ordinance said the town’s name, Rosales, based on stories in the past, traces its roots from the lush growth of Rosal found in the town whose large white flowers emit mellifluous and luscious fragrance.

Rosal will symbolize pure intention, transparency, strength and resilience of Rosalinians, Sim said.

Following its declaration as the official flower, Rosal will be the official symbol of the municipality in promoting its identity as well as its culture for the town’s tourism development.

Initially, rows of Rosal plants will soon adorn the vicinities of the Presidencia, Consejo Municipal, Robert Estrella Sr. Memorial Stadium, plaza, parks and barangay halls.

The barangay roads will also be lined with Rosal and schools will also have Rosal included in their respective landscape. (Tita Roces)
