Gov’t needs more accountants—COA

By July 28, 2014News, News Briefs

HERE’S a career tip for students from the Commission on Audit. (COA).

The Philippine government needs to employ 2,000 new accountants to help audit the Filipino people’s money.

This was conveyed by COA Commissioner Jose A. Fabia to the high school students and faculty of Pangasinan State University (PSU) during the school’s 35th Foundation  Day.

Fabia, citing the need to employ as many as 8,000 accountants in the years ahead,  noted that on the average, 60 percent of COA employees are already 50-65 years old and soon they need to be replaced.

He encouraged PSU President Victoriano Estira to introduce accountancy courses and encourage its graduates to join COA. (PIA/MCA/VHS)
