7-year old pupil is latest PPPO scholar

LINGAYEN –A seven-year-old child of a fisherman and a fish vendor is the lone beneficiary of  Pangasinan police’s Batang Mahirap, Edukasyon Mo, Sagot Ko project.

Last  July 7, Riza Caoile, grade two pupil of Tumbar Elementary School in this capital town, was cited for her good moral character and dedication in her studies despite poverty during the 19th Police Community Relations Month celebration at the provincial command here.

Riza, accompanied by her parents, Robert and Melchora, received from PSSupt. Sterling Raymund Blanco, OIC-provincial police director of Pangasinan, a complete set of school supplies, including two sets of school uniform, a pair of shoes, an umbrella, raincoat and a cash gift of P2,000 as her baon.

The 13th child of the Caoile couple,  Riza was recommended by Josefina Lansangan, a teacher from the community, as the beneficiary of the program.

The scholarship program was a community outreach program of the PNP started in 2007 in Police Regional Office 1 under then Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil, now the 2nd district repreentative.

The project sponsors one poor but deserving elementary pupil by providing the beneficiary’s school needs.

The PPPO has supported 47 beneficiaries of the program. –(Tita Roces)
