Pangasinan producers to join US Expo

LINGAYEN—At least fifteen local producers in Pangasinan have initially confirmed to participate in the two-day Diversity and Trade Exposition slated on October 3-4, 2014 at the City of Artesia in California, USA.

The confirmation was made after the local entrepreneurs, attended a dialogue on June 23 with the representatives of the Business Stability Task Force US Defense Department who arrived in Pangasinan a day earlier together with the Pangasinan-USA Brotherhood Association led by its  president Eddie Ferrer.

The US Department of Defense delegation was headed by Janet Lam-Ho, comptroller of the Task Force in Afghanistan.

Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. and Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan discussed at full length the objective of the trade mission with the US delegation during lunch and dinner on Sunday.

The two groups vowed to help their fellow Pangasinenses to go the extra mile for marketing their products abroad.

The governor lauded the efforts of the visiting officials for their full-driven advocacy in providing investment opportunities for Pangasinenses.

The group was toured to the Sual Coal Fired Power Plant and Sual Seaport, Lingayen Eco-Tourism Zone and around the Capitol Complex.

The local producers’ participation in the first-ever Fil-AM-led trade expo to be held in Southern California was pushed by Ferrer in partnership with the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of South East Los Angeles (FACC-SEC) based in California led by Felix B. Lopez, a Dagupeno.

Apart from the Philippines, 30 other developing countries will join the expo.

The Pangasinan products will be showcased along with the selected Philippine-based products to be viewed by more than 30,000 US buyers including importers and wholesalers.

When they were presented at the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Ho disclosed that she is happy to be in Pangasinan where she traces her paternal roots.

“This is my first time to visit the Philippines and also Pangasinan. I am amazed to see how serene and beautiful your province is,” Ho said. (By Merly T. Ramos)
