Drug dealer killed in buy-bust operation
URDANETA CITY—A drug buy-bust operation in the evening of June 17 in Purok Urduja, Barangay Sto Domingo here turned bloody with one suspect shot dead and two policemen wounded.
Shot dead by pursuing policemen was identified as Cabugatna Ramuros, alias “Abu”, 38, who was cornered in adjacent Barangay Sta. Lucia after fleeing from a shoot-out with poseur –buyers.
P/Supt. Jeff Fanged, city police chief, said the operatives raided the house of Ramuros’ live-in partner named Sheryl Tira of Barangay Sto. Domingo, and both turned hostile when they sensed that their buyers were police agents and immediately opened fire at the poseur buyers.
Wounded were P02 Marman dela Cruz who was hit in the face and P03 Honesto Campos who sustained a gunshot wound in his right wrist.
When the policemen returned fire, Ramuros withdrew towards a rice field where he was cornered and shot by the pursuing lawmen
The operatives were composed of elements of the City Anti-Illegal Drug Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTF) and the Urdaneta City Police Station.
Recovered from the encounter site were two caliber .45 pistols, one Magnum .22 revolver, one hand grenade and one sachet of suspected shabu.
The two wounded police officers are now in stable condition. —LVM and Tita Roces
