Malasiqui team wins karatedo tourney

MALASIQUI—The Jev Eagle Hand Aikido Karatedo teams dominated the 3rd Mayor Armando Domantay Sr. Karatedo competition sponsored by Okinawa Shorin-Ryu KarateDo Association (OSKA) Shikodan Philippines held here last May 17.

Karatedo players from Malasqui and Sta. Barbara clinched first place and firstrunner-up respectively, beating the other 200 karatedo players from Antipolo Rizal, Cavite, Bataan, Baguio City, Nueva Ecija and Dagupan City in the two category competition.

The players from Balanga Bataan won the second place while Nueva Ecija team were on the third place.

The players were challenged under the individual kata category (novice, intermediate and advance) and individual kumite (novice and intermediate).

Jeremy Escote, president of OSKA Philippines thanked the local government of Malasiqui for supporting the sport as he cited the mutual benefits to the town and the sport.

Meanwhile, Jerry Valdez, president and founder of Jev Karatedo that supports teams in Malasiqui and Sta. Barbara, said  “It only takes a willing student and supporting parents to produce champions in karate”, Valdez said.  (Dada Austria)
