3 illegal fishers nabbed after motorboat chase
AGNO–Three persons were arrested while conducting an illegal fishing operation in Sitio Lacquit, Barangay Tupao here on April 30, 2014.
Following a call to the Agno Police Station, a team on board a motorized boat proceeded to the area where the illegal fishers were operating but the suspects sped away.
After a long pursuit, the illegal fishermen, identified as Jessie Escuña, 39, Edmar Vargas, 20, and Jomar Mon, 27, all resident of Sta. Cruz, Zambales, were eventually caught.
Confiscated from them were one motorized boat, styrofoam box containing about eight kilos of assorted fish, one improvised anchor, one complete compressor, and various fishing paraphernalia.
