LINGAYEN—Rubik’s Cube masters and enthusiasts will attempt to break a national, Asian or world record in the speed-cubing competition to be held at the Capitol Beachfront here on April 30 as part of the Pista’y Dayat 2014 celebration.

Rubik’s Cube national Champion Glenn Mark Salgado of Urdaneta City and first world record holder in Skewb category Mar Justin Ampong from Valenzuela, Bulacan will lead the participants coming from around the country.

All categories in the competition, open to all interested applicants and has no age limit, are considered official and sanctioned by the World Cube Association (WCA), which means time records will be recognized internationally.

There will be eight categories: Rubik’s cube, megaminx, pyraminx ,skewb, BLD-3×3 (blindfolded), 3×3 one-handed, 2×2 and 4×4 categories.

Salgado, who set a national record by winning in the Pangasinan Northern Express Open 2014 in Urdaneta City last February, now holds the record of the cuber with the fewest move count.

He hopes to break the current record in the blindfold category in the Lingayen event.

Salgado thanked Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. and the provincial government for giving their group the opportunity to become part of the province’s celebration of the Pistay Dayat Festival. (PIO)
