Red Cross ready for festivals
LINGAYEN—In case of an emergency, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Pangasinan Chapter will be there for you.
There is enough blood supply in its bank for the event-filled months of April and May.
PRC chapter administrator Florame Magalong said on April 7 their local chapter based in Dagupan City still has more than 200 units of whole blood, higher than the 119 units that each chapter is required to maintain daily.
Magalong said it is enough to cover the anticipated need for blood during this period wherein there is usually a higher demand and lower collection.
“Kung kailan madaming events, andaming nangangailangan ng blood,” she said, noting that the festival months and Holy Week are usually lean seasons for blood donations.

Meanwhile, Magalong said PRC-Pangasinan is ready for the Pista’y Dayat and Bangus Festival.
“We are mobilizing five ambulances,” she said.
She added that they have 50 volunteers and the water rescue teams are undergoing a refresher course on first aid and life-saving procedures.
