Nat’l confab on Spanish legacy set in Dagupan

THE Spanish Program for Cultural Cooperation through Spain’s Ministry of Culture will sponsor the “National Conference on Spanish Legacy on Culture and Arts: Focus on Region 1” organized by Lyceum Northwestern University Local Development & Governance Foundation (LNU-LDGF) to be held on April 25, 2014 at the 2nd Floor of Dagupan City Museum.

The conference will be a forum for the presentation and discussion of research papers focused on the extent of Spanish influence on the culture and arts along the areas of architecture and visual arts, clothing and ornaments, food, and songs and dances in Region I.

Conference proceedings will be fully documented and will be produced in book form, copies of which will be distributed to concerned agencies, local government units, NGOs and private sector.

“We will appreciate better our present developments by understanding our past. Our future is shaped by developments in the past,” said Dr. Perla Legaspi, convenor of the conference and executive director of LNU- LDGF.

The research presenters are from different universities including University of the Philippine Open University, Mariano Marcos State University and Pangasinan State University.

Dignitaries like Dr. Felipe De Leon, the chair of the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts and Dr. Raymundo Rovillos, chancellor of University of the Philippines Baguio will also grace the conference.
