Decano conferred ‘Dayew na Dagupan’ award

CITY administrator Atty. Farah Marie G. Decano was honored with the Dayew na Dagupan 2014 award by a prominent association of Dagupeñoa in the United States for her outstanding contribution and excellence in the fields of government service, legislation and education.

The award, which recognizes Dagupan-born citizens with exemplary achievements and contributions to their home city, was given by the Dagupan City Association of Northern California, headed by its president Marlene Garibay, during the association’s 30th Anniversary Celebration last April 5 at Crown Plaza, Burlingame California.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez received a similar award when she was still vice mayor of  Dagupan in 2012.

The event was attended not only by Dagupeños residing in California but also by other Filipino-Americans residing in the area.

Decano was given the award in recognition of her “meaningful contributions in government service” having been a former three-termer city councillor and now Dagupan City administrator.

She has consistently topped the city council race for three consecutive elections from 2001 to  2010.

She was also cited for sponsoring the passage of landmark ordinances in the city council, her achievements as a president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Pangasinan chapter in the past, and her contributions to the development of education in Dagupan.
