Bar 7th placer makes Pangasinan proud

LINGAYEN—A young lass from San Nicolas town placed 7th among 1,174 passers in the 2013 Philippine Bar Examinations, bringing pride to Pangasinan.

The provincial government, through a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) last week, commended Katrine Paula V. Suyat for her achievement described as “a journey of a thousand miles in her quest for success, which she began with quality education, perseverance and determination.”

Suyat, born to Julius Suyat, clerk of Court of the Regional Trial Court in Tayug, and wife Suzette Suyat, took her law degree from San Beda College Manila where she graduated salutatorian in 2012.

Julius is the son of Atty. Eustaquio Suyat, former Secretary of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan from 1989 to 1992.

The SP resolution says Suyat “gained the respect and admiration of her mentors, classmates and the entire Bedan studentry because of her wit, innate talent, knowledge and skills in her chosen field of expertise during her college days.”

Passers of the Bar comprise only 22.18% of the 5,293 takers.

“Katrina Paula Suyat has undoubtedly made the difference because she epitomizes the youth of today, an excellent example to her generation who aspire to become successful individuals,” the resolution reads.

The new lawyer, known to her friends as  “KP”, was a graduate of the Mother Goose Special Science School in Urdaneta City from elementary to high school. She was salutatorian in high school when she graduated in 2005.

She finished her A.B. Political Science as cum laude in 2009 at University of the Philippines, Diliman.—Tita Roces with report from PIO
