SAN CARLOS CITY—Robbery with frustrated homicide charges have been slapped against a barangay chairman here and two others on Monday following an incident last March 15.

Superintendent Rodolfo Castro Jr., city police chief here, said charged were Barangay Captain Lamberto Villa alias Dawis who remains at large, his brother Jhon Villa and former Barangay Kagawad Marco Caguioa, who were both arrested.

Castro said the two arrested suspects had admitted to their crime.

The case involves initially a robbery-hold up in Barangay Tayambani by the three victimizing Saturnino Antiola, 35, married, employee of Cebu Agri Business and resident of Bacood, Sta. Mesa, Manila of P28,000, intended for purchase of corn crops from the suspects.

During the transaction, the suspects allegedly drew a gun and shot Antiola thrice, hitting him in different parts of his body, but he survived and has been discharged from the hospital.

Castro said another angle being investigated is a possible illegal drug transaction between the three suspects and the victim.

Castro added that Villa has been found to have been allegedly involved in a similar case of robbery hold up with homicide in March 2013 victimizing a businessman who was invited to buy crops in his area but robbed the latter eventually and shot him.

The case, however, was dismissed in court.

He added a complete profiling of the barangay chairman is being undertaken for his possible involvement involvement in similar cases in Manila.—Tita Roces
