CHILDREN with autism spectrum disorder enjoyed a Play Day organized by the Autism Society of the Philippines –Dagupan City chapter (ASPDCC) last March 29 at the Dagupan City National High School Abong na Alumni.

Cristina Broncano, ASPDCC president, said such activities give an opportunity for children with autism disorder to play, interact and color books together with their parents as part of their stimulation process.

Autism Spectrum Disorder involves complex brain development disorders characterized by three distinct behaviors: language disability, lack in social skills, and repetitive or stereotyped patterns of behaviour.

“We have no particular data census in the Philippines but worldwide, autism affects one child in 160, more in boys than in girls,” Broncano said. (PIA1-Pangasinan/VHS)
