Retired cop shot dead by HRIT

CALASIAO–A retired policeman was shot dead by unidentified hitmen riding-in-tandem (HRIT) on a motorcycle while standing in front of his mini-store  along the Provincial Highway in Barangay Buenlag here at 7:45 p.m. of January 2.

The fatality was identified as retired SPO2 Alberto Peralta, 52, who was attending to his customers when two male suspects on board a red TMC Honda motorcycle without a plate drove by and fired at him.

The victim sustained four gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and was rushed to the Dagupan Villaflor Hospital where he died on the operating table.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Peralta was involved in a verbal altercation with three unidentified persons  who were reportedly drunk and pretending to buy grilled milkfish at about 5:30 p.m. of Jan. 1.

The victim, agitated by the actuation of the three, reportedly uttered, “Are you fooling me? You don’t know who I am?”.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found seven fired cartridges of Cal. 45 pistol from the crime scene.
