LINGAYEN–Team Pangasinan, composed of some 92 athletes aged 16 years old and below, is set to compete in this year’s Batang Pinoy National Finals slated on January 28-February 1 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The national finals, originally scheduled November 19-23 last year, was postponed following the earthquake that hit Bohol and nearby provinces, then the super typhoon Yolanda that devastated Leyte, Samar and other parts of the Visayas.

Executive Assistant III Modesto Operania said athletes will undergo final training and conditioning on January 20-22 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) prior to the national finals.

Fresh from the Christmas holiday break, the athletes have started their trainings every afternoon and on Sundays at the start of the year.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. will lead the send-off ceremony on January 23.

The national qualifiers from the province set a solid performance in various sporting events during the Batang Pinoy-Luzon Leg held October 15-19 last year at Iba, Zambales, producing 27 gold, 28 silver and 32 bronze medals for an overall 2nd runner-up finish.
