FARMERS can now sell their harvest from the main cropping season to the National Food Authority (NFA) Western Pangasinan Branch.

NFA has set up four buying stations and trucks will be deployed to pick up the palay of farmers and cooperatives in the remote areas.

NFA buys clean and dry palay at P17 /kg and grants a P0.20/kg -P0.50 drying incentive fee depending on the distance of the farm to the collection point / NFA Warehouse, to help defray harvest costs.

An additional P0.30/kg cooperative development incentive fee is given if palay deliveries come from farmers’ organization, associations or cooperatives.

Provincial Manager Rolando S. Rufo said he expects some 385,000 bags will be sold this season.

Meanwhile, Rufo said there are now 45 farmers’ cooperatives and nine individual farmers accredited and applications are still being accepted.
