URDANETA CITY—With barely three months left in the year, the Bureau of Internal Revenue District (BIR) Office 6, under its new leadership, is counting on a massive information campaign among business establishments to reach its P1.24 billion collection target by the end of the year.

Lawyer Nasrollah Conding, newly installed chief of the RDO 6 based in this city, said his team will not be deterred despite being 37 percent short in their collection with only P773 million in taxes collected so far.

“We plan to conduct tax awareness beginning from the tiangge owners in the vicinity as well as all other businesses who have not yet registered with the BIR ,” Conding said during a press conference.

If businesses will not comply, BIR will resort to tax mapping, he added.

Conding noted that collection suffered the most during the months of January, April and May where collection went down by 21 percent.

He said the low collection may be attributed to the processing of clearance for businesses, which takes a long time since the clearance will have to come from the Manila office. (PIA-Pangasinan/VHS)
