LOS ANGELES, California– As the main feature of the 35th foundation anniversary celebration of the Pangasinan Brotherhood, five beauties vied for the title of Miss Pangasinan-USA in a dinner-dance event held August 31 at the Embassy Suites in Anaheim City.

Most of the proceeds from the event and advertisements are earmarked for the association’s scholarship program.

The night show, featuring theatrical performances related to the association’s mission participated in by the contestants, was produced and directed by Leo Arce, an acclaimed stage director.

The contestants were: Charisse Lim Maravilla, 23, Dagupan City; Maria Ilen Mandapat Estrada, 23, San Carlos City; Alyssa Veloria Soto, 20, Mangatarem; Brittany Paula Khoo, 22. Bayambang; and Melissa Marie Caringal, 21, Urdaneta City.

Except for Maravilla who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Skills from California State University-Long Beach, the other four candidates are all college students.

Los Angeles Consul General Hellen Barber dela Vega was invited as the guest of honor and speaker.

Ferrer disclosed that 11 under-privileged but academically-gifted college-bound students have benefited from the PB scholarship program.

Three scholars were sponsored during the term of Ads Diaz, a Dagupeño; four during the administration of Dan E. Nino, a Mangatarem lad; while the incumbent, also a Dagupeno has four.

Meanwhile, Ferrer also announced that Phase 2 of the Trade Seminar initiated by the group will be held on September 21, 2013 in Bonuan, Dagupan City.

It is a continuation of the seminar held here last January 26.
