BANI—The Tourism Month celebration of the province kicked off here last September 3 with the holding of the “Baruy Pangasinan” (Travel Pangasinan) campaign.

The campaign was launched with the delivery tourism kiosks to help the towns promote tourism.

Bani was the last stop in a three-town ceremonial sortie that included Bani, Bugallon and Alaminos City.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. and Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. turned over tourism and information kiosks in each of the towns to help promote the province as a tourism destination.

Provincial Tourism Division Chief Ma. Luisa Elduayan said other activities lined-up for the Tourism Month include a program on September 9 at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen to launch different activities promoting the culture, arts, heritage, and tourism of Pangasinan.

One activity is the 3rd Season of Balitok A Tawir, the province’s culture and arts festival, and the Pangasinan song and music video competition.

Special Events Office Head Marife Acerit said Balitok A Tawir will once again feature chorale singing and folk dance competitions to be participated in by different local government units’ (LGUs) and Department of Education (DepEd) employees and a sarswela contest, which will be opened this time to theater groups of the universities and colleges in the province.

Balitok A Tawir is one of the national finalists this year for the country’s best culture and arts festival.

SONG AND MUSIC VIDEO

The Pangasinan song and music video competition seeks to promote the use of technology via song-and-music videos to depict Pangasinenses’ love for their province and to showcase the rich culture of Pangasinan.

A region-wide tourism planning workshop to be participated in by different tourism groups, LGUs, and DepEd will be held on September 24-26 at the Sison Auditorium.

The Tourism Month will conclude with an inter-HRM (hotel and restaurant management) universities tourism quiz bee on September 27 at the Leisure Coast Resort, Dagupan City.–Johanne R. Macob
