Pangasinan OTOP goes online

LINGAYEN—Setting its sights on making Pangasinan products more globally competitive, the provincial government has entered into a partnership with Google Southeast Asia for the promotion of the One Town One Product (OTOP).

In the “Pangasinan OTOP Goes Google” project, launched July 29, the provincial government identifies what each local government wants to promote as its OTOP while the Google team promotes these online via Google applications including other social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube.

Vanj Padilla, the Google Business Group (GBG) Dagupan manager said the project will provide local industries the opportunity to compete globally.

The Google project will also provide e-commerce component that will OTOP products to be sold online.

OTOP producers and LGU representatives joined the launch last week that included lectures, workshops and mentoring on Google products and tools.

Google Dagupan has volunteers that can mentor the LGUs and help link the entrepreneurs with website creators.

An independent website could cost between P40,000 to P70,000 plus an annual renewal fee for web hosting and domain of about Php10,000.00.
