Bus driver shot dead

BOLINAO–A driver of a passenger bus bound for Manila was shot in the back back by one of two passengers before alighting rom the bus along the highway in Barangay Tara, Bolinao at past 4:00 p.m. on July 6.

The shooting happened inside a Five Star Bus bound for Pasay City coming from Anda.

The victim, identified as Ariel Capiral from Barangay Aweli in Anda, was shot by one of two suspects who boarded at the bus terminal in Poblacion, Anda..

The conductor of the bus, Robert Cacho, 30, a resident of Roxas, Anda, told the police that the two unidentified suspects were seated at the back of the driver and were issued a trip ticket from Anda to Barangay Tiep, Bani.

But upon reaching Barangay Tara in Bolinao, both suspects told the driver to pull over.

While one of them asked the conductor to get their baggage, which turned out to contain nothing but pieces of rocks, placed in the luggage area, the other suspect brought out his firearm and opened fire on the victim in the head at close range.

Recovered from the crime scene was one deformed shot gun pellet which was  turned over to Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO)  who were called to conduct initial investigation.

The suspects fled with the weapon towards a mountainous area of the barangay on foot, heading to the west direction where they are now being pursued by lawmen.
