SHELLFISH from the coastal waters of Bolinao, Anda, Wawa in Bani and Alaminos City continue to be free from red tide and perfectly safe for consumption, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Region 1.

In Shellfish Bulletin No. 12 dated May 28, BFAR Region 1 director Nestor Domenden said the latest laboratory analyses on shellfish samples from these areas show negative red tide toxin.

At the same time, Domenden again underscored the advice to local government units to continuously monitor seashell trading to ensure that those sold in the public markets did not come from places that are positive of paralytic shellfish poisoning.

Market inspectors, quarantine officers, and administrators are tasked to demand for auxiliary invoice or clearance for domestic fish movement for any fish and seashells that are unloaded from other provinces or municipalities.
