LINGAYEN—The Cash for Training Program (C4TP) of the Technical Skills Education Development Agency (TESDA) in now in full swing in Pangasinan with 87 percent of the slots for beneficiaries already filled up.

“As of now, 1,510 of the 1,734 Cash for Training Program or 87% of the recipients are now benefitting from the program,” said TESDA Provincial Director Manuel Wong on May 29.

The 100% implementation of C4TP, which was launched in February in Pangasinan, is expected to be completed not later than the second week of June, assured Wong.

The program is a joint undertaking of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the TESDA with a total budget of P34.7 million.

It apportions P20,000 to every scholar, covering training fees, assessment fees, and transportation allowance.

Young Pangasinenses from the family-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P) as identified by the DSWD are given training in different skills of their choice such as automotive maintenance, driving, Food and Beverage Services, commercial cooking, bartending, motorcycle and small engine repair and maintenance, welding, housekeeping, computer hardware servicing, beauty care, consumer electronic servicing, electrical installation and maintenance and animal production.

TESDA conducts the trainings through its 125 administered training institutions and partner schools.

Apart from the C4TP, the provincial TESDA office is also implementing its Private Education Students Financial Assistance (PESFA) in cooperation with the six congressional representatives of the province in giving about 1,000 scholarship slots.

“We still have the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) in collaboration with our technical vocational institutions,” added Wong.

Wong also said that through their impact evaluation studies, they are able to monitor that TESDA graduates are generally on the employment line.

“Most of the graduates na na-track natin were employed or are still employed naman,” he said.–Johanne R. Macob
