POZORRUBIO–An intensive manhunt was launched by joint police elements against two armed suspects who shot and killed a councilman of Barangay Bobonan here at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday.

The victim, Onofre Alvendia, also a former barangay chairman of Bobonan, was gunned down by two unidentified male persons riding in tandem on a Yamaha motorcycle, colored black, without plate number.

The gunman used a Caliber .45 pistol as evidenced by four empty shells recovered by responding policemen at the crime scene.

Alvendia was immediately rushed by concerned citizens to the Pozorrubio Municipal Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Investigation showed the victim was on board his bicycle when shot from behind by one of two suspects riding on a speeding motorcycle that came from behind him.

The suspects fled towards the west direction, bringing with them the weapon used in the killing.

Witnesses told the police that one of the suspects was wearing a crash helmet while the other covered his face with a handkerchief.

The two, who are believed to be hired killers, were described as about 5’5” 5’7” in height and dark complexioned.

The driver was wearing a brown t-shirt while the back rider was wearing an orange sweater.

Joint police personnel from the Pozorrubio Police Station, Provincial Investigation Detection Management Branch (PIDMB) and Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office are now conducting in-depth investigation into the possible motives of the incident.
