THE coastal areas in western Pangasinan remain free from red tide, maintaining its clear status for more than a month now.

Advisory from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) as of January 23 indicate   that the coastal waters of Bolinao, Anda, Alaminos City and Wawa in Bani are all negative for Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning.

BFAR Region 1 Director Nestor Domenden said this means fish, squids, shrimps, crabs and seashells like mussels and oysters gathered from these areas are safe for human consumption.

At the same time, Domenden stressed that they continue to advise local government units to monitor fish and seashells being brought in from other municipalities and provinces. —Eva Visperas
