MAJOR DRUG BUST IN DAGUPAN

A RAID in a Muslim community in Pag-asa Village, Barangay Bonuan Gueset in Dagupan city Friday yielded 215 grams of suspected shabu estimated to fetch about P1 million in the streets that led to the arrest of 17 suspected drug dealers.

The raid was conducted by combined elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region1, city and provincial police, and the Philippine Army.

PDEA Region 1 Director Jeoffrey Tacio said the raiding teams implemented four search warrants issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 44 Executive Judge Genoveva Maramba on four houses.

Tacio said among those arrested were in the target list of major drug personalities, including Faizal Sumangan, Ali Bair Macaangcos and Amino Bagul.

He added that one of the houses is a known drug den and hot spot in Region 1 and the operation is considered PDEA Region 1’s biggest drug bust since January this year.

Superintendent Christopher Abrahano, city police chief, said they also seized from the suspects one caliber 45 pistol, one 38 revolver and one 22 revolver.

Abrahano said this was the biggest drug haul in a single operation since the anti-drug abuse drive was stepped up in the city and they expect drug pushing activities to be paralyzed.—Eva Visperas
