TRIATHLON WITH A TWIST—Competitors in the unique triathlon event dubbed IBTOR Challenge held January 12 navigate their pedicabs in the bicycle leg covering a 20-kilomenter distance. IBTOR Challenge includes the usual sports of swimming, cycling, and running – but the swim requires players to carry with them a banana log, and the run is through a 15K rough and treacherous mountain road with a 250-step flight of stairs. It kicks off at the Acop Dam and loops around Rosales town’s Eco-Tourism Area, passes at the heart of the municipality and culminates at SM City Rosales. “Ibtor” is an Ilocano word that connotes endurance and strength and it also stands for Inter-Barangay Triathlon Of Rosales.
