Espino leads “I Love Pangasinan Campaign” caravan
LINGAYEN—“We are doing this not for us, but for the future generation.”
This was stressed by Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. in his bid to reinvigorate the distinct Pangasinan culture and identity during the opening salvo for this year’s Baruy Pangasinan caravan held January 16 in four towns in the Fifth District.
“All these things, itong mga ginagawa naming mga elders, ay para sa inyo (referring to the elementary and high school students present during the activity) at sa susunod na henerasyon,” Espino said as he reaffirmed his promise to help unprivileged Pangasinenses who are sick through various poverty alleviating programs, including the annual PhilHealth card distribution.
The governor also noted how the projects and programs of his administration translated into reality the vision of making the province the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family.
Reiterating that people getting to know Pangasinan intimately is an expression of love to the province, Vice Governor Ferdinand Z. Calimlim Jr. stressed,“ang pagmamahal sa Pangasinan ay nasagawa.”
He said Espino has loved Pangasinan much and the recent political attacks against the governor are nothing but “pure harassment.”
“Huwag po kayong maniwala sa mga paninirakay Gov. kasi alam naman po natin na panahon nanaman ng pulitika,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fifth District Board Member Danilo Uy said, “among the continuing thrusts of Espino administration, the health program is a top priority and due to the sustained efforts of the provincial government in upgrading the 14 province-owned public hospitals, these facilities are now at par with private hospitals in terms of services and modern equipment.”
Board Member Clemente Arboleda who was present during the Baruy caravan in Binalonan and Laoac likewise noted the positive changes done by Espino since 2007.
Senator Loren Legarda also joined Espino during the Baruy in Sison town.
The mayors of the four towns – Mina Joy C. Pangasinan, Sison; Artemio Q. Chan, Pozorrubio; Ramon Guico III and Silverio D. Alarcio, Jr. – who thanked the governor for the tourism kiosks and PhilHealth cards have expressed support for the development efforts of the provincial chief executive.
PHILHEALTH CARDS
Right after the turnover of the tourism and information kiosks by Espino, the distribution of PhilHealth insurance cards to the indigent families took place.
Some 3, 617 PhilHealth insurance cards distributed in Sison (1,007); Pozorrubio (1, 482); Binalonan (629); and Laoac (499) were an addition to the 13, 233 beneficiaries from other towns and cities of the province who had received alike cards last year.
The tourism and information kiosks distributed to towns and a city of the province is a project of the provincial government through the provincial tourism operations division. It seeks to promote tourism and developmental projects of the province.
Teachers from the Department of Education, elementary and high school students and people from all walks of life were also present during the caravan to manifest support to the tourism and health advocacies of the provincial government. (PIO/Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca)
