SAN JACINTO—A rural health unit (RHU) worker here has been arrested and charged for alleged illegal drug pushing.

The suspect has been identified as Rene Hiquina, an ambulance driver in the RHU.

“We have already filed a case of violation of RA 9165 particularly the possession of illegal drugs and drug pushing against the suspect,” said Police Senior Inspector Amor Mio Somine, municipal chief of police.

Somine said Hiquina had been placed under surveillance for several weeks after receiving reports of his alleged illegal activities.

After verifying the reports, the police, together with agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 1, conducted a buy bust operation last Monday.

Hiquina was arrested after he sold one sachet of shabu to a police officer who acted as buyer while he was on duty at the health center.

Upon body search, the police recovered another sachet of shabu from the suspect.–Hilda M. Austria
