MANAY GINA REPORTS

THE plight of malnourished children in the 4th District was the recent focus of Rep. Gina de Venecia’s efforts to alleviate the condition of indigent families.

With the P4 million allotment she obtained from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, she established a regular feeding program for malnourished school children.

Malnourished pupils from Dagupan City and the towns of Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto and Manaoag identified by the Department of Education (DepEd) as undernourished will benefit from the program.

De Venecia, in a meeting Friday at her residence in Bonuan Binloc, handed a check of P3,740, 240 to the Pangasinan II school division of DepEd for schools in Mangaldan, San Fabian and Manaoag.

A separate P81, 750 check was handed to San Jacinto while another P245,250 was given to the DSWD in Dagupan City.

De Venecia underscored the value of the supplemental feeding program as pupils are more attentive in class with sufficient nutrition.

At the same time, the congresswoman distributed capital assistance to 20 mothers for their income-generating projects which she also sought from Soliman under the SEA-K (Self-Employment Assistance-Kabuhayan) project.

DSWD gave an additional P1 million to boost the De Venecia’s regular congressional allocation.

Livelihood development is one of the major programs of De Venecia under her Project LOVE, which is being implemented in the entire district.
