THE late Victorio Edades, the first Dagupeño national artist awardee, will be honored by the city with “Panangaro: A Tribute to National Artist Victorio Edades’s 117th Commemorative Anniversary” program to be held at the Museo na Dagupan as part of the fiesta celebration next month.

To be unveiled during the program on December 20 are the collaborative works of nine contemporary Filipino visual artists led by acclaimed painter Manuel Baldemor who came to the city last week to finish three murals depicting the artistry and life of Edades.

In a workshop set at the Museo na Dagupan from November 26-27, the team of artists worked on an 8×4-meter and two 4×4-meter canvases.

The biggest of the artworks entitled “Homage to Edades”, appraised by the painters at P1 million, has been donated by Baldemor and his team to the city as a permanent collection of the museum.

City Administrator Vlad Mata and Museum Administrator Honorata Siapno received the artwork from the artists last Tuesday.

During the tribute to Edades, Siapno said the public will be able to view the national artist’s medallion for the first time after the original was lost. (CIO)
