PRISAA Region 1 Games set Nov 5-8

THE 2012 Regional Collegiate Games of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Region I will be held on November 5-8 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen, with simple opening ceremonies in the afternoon of November 5.

This year’s competitions will be participated in by six PRISAA Divisions – Metro Dagupan, Metro San Carlos, La Union, Laoag City-Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan I and II, and Ilocos Sur – represented by some 1,000 athletes, officials and coaches, competing in 14 individual and team events.

The sports fields include athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, chess, dance sports, karatedo, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and volleyball.

Last year’s overall champion, Metro Dagupan, is expected to defend its crown, particularly in taekwondo in which Region I was declared champion in the recent PRISAA National Collegiate Games held in Cebu City.

The first place winners in this year’s games will represent Region I in the National Collegiate Games scheduled February 10-16, also in Lingayen and in Dagupan City.

PRISAA Region I and National President Gonzalo T, Duque said the regional team that will be sent to the national competition will be composed of about 250 athletes, officials and coaches for 16 of the 20 sporting events.

The PRISAA 2012 Regional Games is supported by Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. representing the provincial government, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education, and PRISAA member-higher education institutions in Region I.–Philamer C. Celi
