CALASIAO–The Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) plant has joined the Kapatiran-WISE-TAV program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The CCBPI plant in Pangasinan, along with those in Ilocos Norte and La Union, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DOLE-Regional Office I to seal their commitment to the program.

DOLE Regional Director Grace Ursua said with the three CCBPI plants joining program’s roster of “big brothers,” there are now seven in Region I.

The Kapatiran-WISE-TAV is a DOLE program thru the Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC) that encourages big companies practicing corporate social responsibility to assist small companies, which are their contractors/subcontractors, in becoming fully compliant with labor standards and occupational safety and health.

TeaM Energy in Sual town was the first to sign up in 2010; while San Miguel Foods Inc. in the town of Binalonan, Ginebra San Miguel Inc. in Sta. Barbara town and Holcim Philippines, Inc. in Bacnotan, La Union were enlisted in 2011.

Ursua said that the program is anchored on the International Labor Organization’s Work Improvement in Small Enterprises (ILO’s WISE), whose action-oriented approach has long been proven to link productivity and product quality to safer and better workplace conditions.
