Kapitan caught keeping cache of firearms

MALASIQUI—The barangay chairman of Taloyan here was arrested by the police following a raid at his residence that led to discovery of cache of firearms last Thursday.

The suspect, Virgilio Dela Cruz, 52, had in his possession one Taurus Cal 45 pistol, one Baby Armalite Airsoft Rifle with one magazine, three magazines for Cal 45 pistol, one long magazine for Caliber 5.56 Armalite rifle, one magazine for Glock pistol, 30 rounds of live ammunition for Cal. 45 pistol, and 25 rounds of live ammunition for Cal 5.56 Armalite rifle.

The raid,  led by Superintendent Policarpio Cayabyab, chief of police of Malasiqui, along with elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group  led by chief Inspector Modesto Carrera, was covered by a search warrant issued by vice executive Judge Renato Pinlac of Branch 57 in San Carlos City.
