Duque elected prexy of National PRISAA

THE National Board of Trustees of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) elected a new set of officers for Academic Year 2012-2013 during the group’s organizational meeting, last August 25.

Elected were Dr. Emmanuel Y. Angeles (PRISAA Region III), chairman; Dr. Gonzalo T. Duque (Region I president), president and vice chairman; Dr. Ma. Lita A. Montalban (Region XI president), vice-president; Dean James M. Malaya (CAR president), corporate secretary; Dr. Victor V. Perez (Region II president) treasurer; and Dr. Hercules R. Chanjueco (CARAGA president) auditor.

Also elected members of the Board of Tustees are the following regional presidents: Abraham Y. Cruz (Region III), Dr. Fe Rabanal-Medina (Region IV-A), Atty. Dennis DB. Mambil (Region IV-B), Dr. Abundio G. Palencia, Jr. (Region V), Dr. Ralph L. Pador (Region VI), Dr. Edward Y. Chua (Region VIII), Engr. Florentino D. Diana (Region IX), Dr. Maximo M. Lerin (Region X), Rev. Fr. Jessie P. Pasquin (Region XII), and Atty. Taharoden A. Wahab (ARMM)

The board also appointed the following PRISAA regional executive directors as staff officers for technical operations: Dr. Elbert C. Atilano (Region IX) national executive director; and, as deputy executive directors – Philamer C. Celi (Region I) for Luzon; Rogelio Branzuela (Region VI) for the Visayas; and Boy Sarabia (Region XI) for Mindanao.

Appointed as staff officers for administrative operations are: Laureano C. Santos (Region III) national secretary-general; and, as deputy secretaries-general – Jeffrey Jervoso (Region III) for Luzon; Bernard Ricafranca (Region VI) for the Visayas; and Jonathan de Sosa (Region IX) for Mindanao.

The PRISAA Board also approved the bid proposal of Region XI to hold the 2014 PRISAA National Collegiate Games, in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, and the participation of high school student-athletes in six team and individual sports events in the forthcoming 2013 PRISAA National Collegiate Games in Lingayen.

PRISAA DAGUPAN TOURNAMENT

In Dagupan, the University of Luzon (UL) beat PIMSAT Colleges, 101-69 while Colegio de Dagupan edged out Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy, 75-70, last Thursday in another twin ball match-up in the ongoing PRISAA Metro Dagupan Division Basketball Tournament at the Peoples Astrodome.– Philamer C.
