Agri projects in Manaoag to boost production

NUMEROUS roads and two multi-purpose solar driers are but a few of the projects Rep. Gina de Venecia has allotted to boost agriculture in Manaoag.

This was bared during the graduation rites of the 4-month training on goat-raising and high-value crop production in the pilgrimage town recently.

During the event, De Venecia announced her various projects for the town, like the recently finished farm-to-market roads in Barangays Bucao, Cabanbanan, Sta. Ines, Babasit, Oraan West and San Ramon.

She also reported that the farm- to- market roads in Baguinay, Baritao and Nalsian are about to be finished.

Meanwhile, among her incoming projects include: the Multi- Purpose Solar Drier for Oraan East and Parian, the Phase 2 of Pantal and Mermer’s Barangay Halls, and the farm-to-market roads in Poblacion, Sapang and Matulong, as well as the drainage system of Inamotan.

The participants of the Season-Long Training Trainers of Farmer Field School on Integrated Pest Management for Lowland Vegetable Production, and the Farmer Livestock School on Integrated Goat Management come from Region 1. Among the trainees were hundreds of farmers from Barangays Oraan West, Oraan East, Cabanbanan, Lelemaan, Nalsian, Mermer, Pantal, Tebuel, Licsi, Lipit Norte, Lipit Sur, Baritao and San Ramon, Manaoag.

The four-month training program was made under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture-Region 1, Agricultural Training Institute in Sta. Barbara and the town of Manaoag.

The promotion of livelihood, particularly in the area of agriculture, is one of the banner programs of De Venecia.

For the past two years, she has distributed a total of 7,259 bags of certified palay seeds to benefit the farmers in all the municipalities of the 4th district.

She has also given out some 13,291 sacks of fertilizer as well as 2,087 pieces of handheld pesticide sprayers to the farmers of San Jacinto, San Fabian and Manaoag.

Mangaldan farmers also got a P560 thousand grant for their cattle-raising project.
