A SUSPECTED drug pusher was killed after he engaged agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1) in a shootout in the early morning of June 6 in Urdaneta City.

The suspect was identified as Asis Hadji Modior of Baranggay Camantiles, Urdaneta City.

A known shabu pusher in his hometown, Asis was poised to sell drugs to an undercover agent in a planned operation for his arrest.

The exchange was going smoothly when the suspect noticed several men running towards him as he handed out the illegal drugs, prompting him to draw his gun and fire at the approaching PDEA agents.

The firefight lasted about ten minutes.

Several plastic sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known in the streets as shabu, were recovered in the area plus the cellphone used in the illegal drug transaction, a motorcycle and a 45 caliber pistol.

Newly installed PDEA RO1 Regional Director Roybel M. Sanchez lauded his men for their quick thinking and was glad that no PDEA agent was hurt or injured.

“This is the second time our good agents had an encounter and killed drug suspects who fought back, proving that they are getting bolder and vicious,” Sanchez said.
