PREPARING FOR 2013 ELECITON

THE police regional office 1 (PRO1) that covers Pangasinan, has intensified its campaign against private armed groups (PAGS) in preparation for the May 2013 elections and has so far arrested nine persons.

Chief Supt. Franklin Jesus Bucayu, police regional director of Region 1, said his command has teamed up with the Armed Forces of the Philippines- Northern Luzon Command and local government units for the creation of an oversight committee to dismantle PAGs in the region.

In Ilocos Norte, Governor Imee R. Marcos issued Executive Order Number 22-10 entitled Provincial Anti-Private Armed Group Task Force, directing dismantling of PAGs in the province.

“A resolution will also be endorsed by the Regional Peace Order Council Region 1 to the provincial governors for the adoption of said EO,” Bucayu said

RIDING-IN-TANDEM HITMEN

PRO1 has also doubled efforts against motorcycle-riding-in-tandem hitmen (MRTH) that resulted in the arrest of 22 suspects from January to June this year.

Bucayu added that intelligence-driven checkpoints were established through Project “Lambat” and strictly enforced the Anti-Helmet Law.
