Deaf and mute witnesses slaying
ROSALES—A 26-year old deaf and mute could be the key to solving the slaying and possible rape of a 58-year old vendor who was found dead in a rice field at 9:30 a.m. in Barangay Cabalaoangan Norte here on August 15.
The victim was identified as one Lilia Gracia, alias Charing, from the Visayas.
Her body was found with injuries in the face and her lower garment rolled down to her feet, an indication that she might have been raped.
Probers of the Rosales police are now conducting an investigation with the help of a lone witness, Billy Jane Basing, who indicated through sign language that she has personal knowledge and information about the perpetrator.
The police said the witness has pointed to Gracia’s fiancée, whose identity is still being withheld, as the suspect.
