AN SM Foundation, Inc.-sponsored training program to improve productivity has benefitted 96 farmers from Urdaneta City and neighboring Tarlac province.

The three-month Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) training, held in SM City Rosales, covered planting varieties of vegetables, crop shifting, farming techniques, commercial production, and product marketing.

Hindi porket marunong kang magtanim eh yun na yun, may sistema ang patatanim,”, said Alejandro Cortes, one of the graduate farmers.

Among the participants of the training program was former Senator Leticia Shahani who added, “Our country is a paradise; let us produce high quality vegetables.”

A KSK Harvest Festival was held last June 21 at Barangay Catablan in Urdaneta City, showcasing crops reaped as part of the program such as squash, cucumber, string beans, patola, ampalaya, tomato, eggplant, lettuce, melon, honeydew, watermelon and sweet corn.

The agricultural products were brought to SM City Rosales during the KSK graduation ceremony on June 22.

The training was organized in cooperation with Urdaneta City, Department of Agriculture, and Harvest Agribusiness Corp., which introduced the Taiwanese technology of farming-Multicrop system.
