THE PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) Metro Dagupan Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship will kick off on the first week of August in Dagupan City to be participated in by the group’s member-schools.

The tournament of the UCAA (Universities and Colleges Athletic Association of Pangasinan) will begin at about the same time with private and government universities and colleges in the province participating.

The planned games were proposed by the Management Committee of both the PRISAA and UCAAP to provide more basketball tournaments and opportunities to collegiate teams and gain exposure in national competitions.

Five Dagupan City-based school teams have been invited to join the PRISAA single round robin tournament in which the champion team will represent Metro Dagupan in the 2012 PRISAA Regional Collegiate Games slated on October 26-28 in Lingayen. The regional champion will in turn represent PRISAA Region I in the National Collegiate Games on February 10-16, 2013.

In the UCAAP league, which will also be conducted and played in a single round robin elimination, higher education institutions have been invited to join.

The champion will represent Pangasinan PCCL (Philippine Collegiate Champions League) in the PCCL North Luzon Regional Elimination on November 6 in San Fernando City, La Union. The winner in the regional level will advance to the PCCL Zonal Elimination later in November.—Philamer C. Celi
