POLICE ALERT

POLICE authorities in Dagupan City expressed alarm over the use of minors by a local drug syndicate to push illegal drugs following the arrest of a 12-year old boy on October 18 in Sitio Silungan, Barangay Bonuan Binloc.

The suspect, an out-of-school youth, was caught in possession of three heat-sealed sachets containing a crystalline substance called shabu weighing about 0.5 grams and three pieces of P100 bills.

The confiscated evidence was sent to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory in Lingayen for examination.

A police informant tipped authorities about the planned transaction involving the boy and operatives were immediately sent to the site.

A case for violation of Republic 9165, the anti-drugs law, is now being prepared by the police against the suspect despite the fact that he is a minor.

Superintendent Romeo Caramat, Jr., city police chief, decried the use of minors by drug syndicate in their illegal operations.

The responding police spotted two men “buyers” but the suspects immediately fled upon seeing the cops, leaving the boy behind.

The boy was brought to the Region 1 Medical Center for medical examination and thereafter endorsed to the Women and Children Police Desk.
